Anthem is Henderson's signature guard-gated master-planned community, located in the 89052 zip code along the southern end of the city. The community encompasses Anthem Country Club, Anthem Highlands, Coventry Homes, and several other sub-developments — all sharing one defining characteristic: direct adjacency to undeveloped Mojave Desert terrain.

That desert boundary is the primary driver of Anthem's bee problem. Wild Africanized bee colonies nest in rocky outcroppings, desert washes, and undisturbed soil throughout the open land surrounding Anthem. Each spring and summer, these colonies send swarms — clusters of 5,000-20,000 bees traveling with a queen in search of a new nesting site. The protected void spaces inside Anthem homes are exactly what they're looking for.

HOA Compliance in Anthem

Anthem's HOA structure is one of the most organized in Henderson. Most sub-communities require any exterior work — including bee and pest removal — to be performed by licensed Nevada contractors, with documentation submitted to the HOA management office. We provide a complete documentation package for every Anthem job:

Desert Proximity and Africanized Bees

Because Anthem borders open desert habitat with high wild bee population density, any established hive in the community should be presumed Africanized until confirmed otherwise. We operate under that assumption for all Anthem service calls — using appropriate protective equipment and working during low-activity periods when possible.

Africanized colonies in Anthem tend to be particularly defensive given the absence of natural predators and the abundance of foraging resources. A hive that has been present for one or more seasons may number 50,000-80,000 bees and respond aggressively to any perceived threat within a 50-100 yard radius.

• Weep screeds at the base of stucco walls (the most common entry point in the community)
• Tile roof voids — the space between the roof deck and tile surface is temperature-stable and protected
• Block fence cores — hollow CMU blocks in perimeter walls are frequently colonized
• Outdoor kitchen and BBQ structures — built-in outdoor structures with voids and cavities
• Retaining walls — particularly where desert terrain meets the property line
